This 55-minute personalized online evaluation allows us to hear about your history of speaking English, and also understand your current speech goals. We will use conversational and reading tasks to assess your speech patterns, your strengths, and areas for improvement. Finally, we provide feedback about our initial findings, and we discuss a plan going forward.
Usually, our clients follow up with private speech coaching and accent modification sessions, as these are the most efficient way to fast-track the process of speech improvement. Because of the immediate feedback from an instructor, clients are often able to make changes quickly and with a better understanding of what to do on their own in the future.
These follow-up lessons typically consist of structured exercises and a great deal of natural conversational exercises. Your instructor will send you a recording (and a written document) after each session which highlight some of the more difficult words and phrases from that day. Homework is not required but is always offered and encouraged.
Every client is different, and personal learning preferences (and goals!) are always taken into consideration. We have some clients who love textbook exercises and others who only want to practice in conversation.
